Engage Art Studios Education programme nurtures and incites curiosity. Amongst artists and audiences alike, across all ages and across Galway City and County, we provide a new unique open project space for learning, connection and creativity. We aim to provide an environment, within and beyond the studio and gallery walls that aims to be welcoming and stimulating, where people can absorb and reflect, connect and disconnect from daily life. Contemporary art is of our time and helps us understand the world we live in now. We consider and reflect the evolving needs and behaviours of our audience within our programme, and our new five-year plan states a clear objective is to create a space for a new generation to engage with creativity, conceptual thinking and cultural meaning.

We want to develop a place with Engagement & Learning at the core of our programme and our work with artists in particular since we moved into our new premises in 2019. Our programmes are open to all and include gallery-based tours and workshops; artists’ residency studio; talks, seminars and artist-led events for children, young people and adults. Online we will provide resources about our temporary exhibitions, ongoing programmes and events. We work with a broad range of people from formal education to a wide-ranging public programme for groups and individuals.

Engagement & Learning is at the core of our activity and our work with artists. We run a wide variety of programmes and events in our new premises, that embraces the full breadth of art-forms evolving in contemporary practice. These events extend within, and beyond, the gallery space. We currently offer contemporary art workshops for primary schools, young people, adults and third-level students as well as project and research opportunities and talks. We are a resource for our community in lower Salthill, Galway City and County to avail of.
